Your iPhone Face ID is not working in Landscape, Here are the tips to make it work.

Introduction to Face ID

Face ID is a biometric authentication feature on iPhone and iPad devices developed by Apple Inc. It uses a front-facing TrueDepth camera to scan a user’s face and authenticate their identity, replacing the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that was introduced with earlier models of the iPhone. Face ID is a highly secure and convenient method for unlocking an iPhone or iPad, authorizing purchases, and accessing secure apps and features.

How Face ID works

With Face ID, users can simply look at their device to unlock it, without the need to enter a passcode or use their fingerprint. The technology uses advanced facial recognition algorithms to create a mathematical model of a user’s face, which is then used to compare against the user’s live image for authentication.

Face ID also employs various security measures, such as detecting and rejecting masks or spoofing attempts, to ensure that only the true user can access the device. Since its introduction with the iPhone X in 2017, Face ID has become an increasingly popular feature across Apple’s mobile device lineup.

By default, Face ID on an iPhone is designed to work only in portrait mode. However, it is possible to use Face ID in landscape mode by adjusting the phone’s settings. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Scroll down and tap on “Face ID & Passcode”.

  3. Enter your passcode when prompted.

  4. Under “Use Face ID For”, make sure that the “iPhone Unlock” option is enabled.

  5. Scroll down to the “Alternate Appearance” section and tap on “Set Up an Alternate Appearance”.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan your face in landscape mode. Make sure to hold your iPhone in landscape orientation while doing this.

  7. Once you’ve successfully set up an alternate appearance, you should be able to use Face ID in landscape mode as well as portrait mode.

It’s worth noting that not all apps support landscape mode, so using Face ID in landscape mode may not be necessary in every situation. However, if you frequently use your iPhone in landscape mode and find that Face ID is not working properly, setting up an alternate appearance can be a helpful workaround.
